Strawberry Field is a visitor attraction on Beaconsfield Road in Woolton, in the south of Liverpool, built around the former Salvation Army children's home that inspired the John Lennon song. Families can work through an interactive exhibition covering the history of the site, John Lennon's childhood nearby and how the song came together, with a media guide offered in several languages. Outside, the peaceful gardens give younger visitors room to wander, and there is a café and a gift shop on site. It suits Beatles fans, families with older children interested in local history, and mixed-age groups, since children under 17 are admitted with a paying adult. The site has invested heavily in accessibility, including Changing Places facilities, sensory items at reception and a relaxed welcome for autistic visitors. Booking ahead is recommended in busy periods.
