The Hardmans' House is a National Trust property on Rodney Street in Liverpool's Georgian Quarter, kept as it was when the portrait photographer Edward Chambré Hardman and his wife Margaret lived and worked there. Entry is by guided tour only, and the tour moves through the front-of-house studio rooms, the processing darkroom and the couple's private living quarters, with the kitchen left much as it was in the 1950s. Original cameras, props, lights and prints are on display, and there is a small gallery of Hardman photographs. The house suits older children and teenagers who enjoy history, old objects or photography, and it works well as a short, sheltered stop during a day in the city centre. Visitors with pushchairs or limited mobility should note that only the ground floor is wheelchair accessible and the upper floors are reached by a single staircase. A short walking trail through the surrounding streets and cathedrals takes in places Hardman photographed.
