A small, free museum on the upper level of Prescot Shopping Centre, sharing its building with the town library. Its collection of around 14,500 items tells the story of the Knowsley borough through photographs, ceramics, tools, costumes, household objects and militaria. Displays look at the clock and watch industry that once made Prescot famous, along with former local trades and the people and businesses connected with them. Temporary exhibitions run through the year. Younger visitors can dig through a large old apothecary chest and find the objects in its drawers, and free information sheets are available to take away. Everything is on one level, so it is easy to visit with pushchairs. The museum suits a rainy-day stop, a short history lesson, or a visit combined with a trip to the shops.
