No museum car park is listed. The museum points visitors to council car parks nearby (Portway, Limborough Road and Mill Street), where one hour is free with a ticket. Walking, cycling or public transport are encouraged.

Only facilities we’ve confirmed are listed — anything missing here we simply haven’t checked, rather than know to be absent.

The Vale & Downland Museum sits in a historic house on Church Street, close to the market square in Wantage. Its galleries cover the heritage of the Vale of White Horse, from fossils and early local life to a Formula One racing car display. An interactive auditorium presents the history of the area, and a working model railway scene shows the Great Western line passing through a recreated Vale landscape. Families can take part in free family days and workshops, many run around literary themes and school holidays, and the museum hosts a changing programme of exhibitions. A coffee shop with a terrace and garden makes it easy to combine a visit with a break. Admission to the galleries is free, with a donation suggested, and the museum is a short walk from the town centre.
