What’s there

  • Parking

Visitor car parking in the Branchet car park, off the right side of the main drive.

Only facilities we’ve confirmed are listed — anything missing here we simply haven’t checked, rather than know to be absent.

A free interactive gallery in the Syd Kesseler Centre at Gilwell Park, the Scout Association's historic estate on the edge of Epping Forest. Its display, called Our Adventure, uses objects from the Scouts Heritage Collection to show how Scouting has changed over more than a century, with a chance to compare today's Scouts with those from a hundred years ago. Families can listen to audio descriptions of the paintings, use digital timelines and learn a set of Scout words in British Sign Language. The gallery sits alongside a self-guided heritage trail across the grounds, which includes a shorter route for younger visitors. Reception in the same building can supply maps and a trail leaflet, and a shop sells Gilwell memorabilia. Visitors should expect a quieter, learning-led visit rather than hands-on play equipment, and the wider site is busy with groups of young Scouts.
