The Cartoon Museum is a compact, independent museum in Fitzrovia, close to Oxford Street, dedicated to British editorial cartoons, caricatures, comic strips and animation. Its permanent collection runs from 18th-century political satire through to present-day comics, and the galleries rotate with changing exhibitions. Visits are short and easy to fit around a day in the West End, which suits older children and teenagers who enjoy drawing or comic books, as well as families who want something a little different from the big attractions. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. The museum runs workshops and events for all ages and has a learning space for school and family groups. Staff lend sensory backpacks and magnifying glasses at the front desk, and there are large print labels in the main gallery.
