The Bank of England Museum sits inside the central bank's Threadneedle Street complex and is entered from Bartholomew Lane. Galleries cover the history of banknotes, the Bank's role in the economy today and the gold vaults, with displays and interactives pitched at younger visitors. Children can pick up a free activity sheet from the information desk, with sheets arranged by age from pre-school up to seventeen, and there are family events during school holidays. It suits a rainy afternoon in town or a visit combined with the nearby sights of the City. Visits are indoors and fairly compact, so a family can see the main galleries in a couple of hours. Parents should note the steps and changes of level between galleries, and that the museum has no cafe, so food and drink is bought nearby.
