A volunteer-run museum housed in a restored Victorian water pumping station on the edge of Enfield. The collection spans more than a century of getting about, with classic cars, motorcycles, bicycles, vintage commercial vehicles, fire engines, typewriters and cameras, plus a model railway and a former railway station canopy reassembled in the grounds. Displays are spread over several floors and outside, so a visit gives children plenty to look at and ask about, and the cafe makes it easy to stay for a couple of hours. Family groups, school parties and enthusiast clubs all visit, and the museum runs occasional special events, car and motorcycle meets and a larger pageant on the nearby playing fields. It suits families with children who enjoy vehicles, machines and history. Check the opening pattern before travelling, as the museum opens only on set days.
Opening is on set days only, not a weekly daily pattern; the weekly grid is left empty deliberately.
