The Spurn Lightship is a historic vessel berthed on Hull Marina that guided ships through the River Humber for almost fifty years before being decommissioned in 1975. After a long restoration it is open again as a floating museum. Families can climb aboard and walk through the preserved crew accommodation, see the communication and emergency equipment used from the ship's launch, and read the interpretation panels that tell the story of life on a lightship. The visit is short and self-guided, so it suits children who enjoy boats and history, and it works well as a stop alongside the marina's other attractions. Because it is a historic vessel, there are steep stairs, raised thresholds and confined spaces below deck, which families with pushchairs or limited mobility should plan around.
