Alton Watersports Centre is the RYA sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, canoeing and stand-up paddleboarding hub on Alton Water reservoir in south Suffolk. The centre is an AALA- and RYA-certified training school with friendly, highly qualified instructors, and equipment is available to hire all year round - canoes, sit-on-top kayaks, rowing boats, stand-up paddleboards, sailing dinghies, windsurfers and pedalos. Family-friendly sessions suit all ages and abilities: 'have a go' sessions are available on request, junior RYA courses run alongside adult courses, and the centre hosts children's birthday parties. On-site facilities include a cafe overlooking the reservoir, a designated picnic area and paid car parking. Hours vary by season and with the weather, so it is worth calling ahead before a visit.
Open year-round for equipment hire and courses. Water access subject to weather and water conditions (an algae notice can limit equipment hire).
