Lowestoft Museum is a volunteer-run, donation-funded local history museum housed in Broad House, a Grade II listed building dating from 1685, within the grounds of Nicholas Everitt Park, Oulton Broad. It collects, preserves and displays objects relating to the history of the area and its people. The museum is best known for its important collection of 18th-century Lowestoft Porcelain, but also has displays of locally found fossils and artefacts relating to early man (including Pakefield Man, dating back 700,000 years), archaeology from Roman and Anglo-Saxon sites, exhibits on HMS Lowestoft and HMS Mantis and Lowestoft as a fishing port, local industries, and famous local characters such as Benjamin Britten and George Borrow. There is a Victorian room setting with domestic items, a Cobbler's shop, a Doctor's surgery, a display on St John Ambulance, old toys and WW1/WW2 items. Free entry, staffed by volunteers. Opening is seasonal (April to October).
