Lowestoft Beach is the seaside heart of Britain's most easterly town, made up of two award-winning stretches of golden sand - Lowestoft South Beach (between Claremont Pier and Pakefield) and the beach north of Claremont Pier towards South Pier - both backed by a promenade with beach huts, cafes and kiosks.

South Beach holds a Seaside Award and is a Marine Conservation Society recommended beach. It is a firm family favourite for sandcastles, paddling and rock pooling, with crabbing and fishing around the piers. The seafront promenade has public toilets and showers, cafes and kiosks serving ice creams and snacks, and a children's play area near the Royal Green with water fountains to cool off in summer. Beach huts (including accessible huts with level access) and beach wheelchairs can be hired through the Lowestoft Beach Office, and a boardwalk offers greater access to the sand and sea for pushchairs and wheelchairs.

The beach is popular for watersports including surfing, paddleboarding, windsurfing and jet skiing, with a lifeguard patrol from May to September. Pay-and-display car parks line the seafront (bookable via RingGo). Dogs are not permitted on the beach between May and September.

A new Jubilee Parade seafront complex with a two-storey restaurant and cafe, Changing Places facility, showers and a lift connecting the upper and lower promenades was due to open in Summer 2026 - there may be temporary disruption during construction.

Lifeguard patrol May to September on the South and North beaches (none on North Beach/Gunton Denes). Dogs are not permitted on the beach between May and September. Beach huts (incl. accessible huts) and beach wheelchairs available to hire via the Lowestoft Beach Office.
