Christchurch Park is Ipswich's first public park, opened in 1895, set in 33 hectares of historic parkland right in the heart of the town. The Grade II listed park has a children's play area, tennis courts, table tennis, outdoor chess, a 5km parkrun route, public toilets, a Changing Places facility, refreshment kiosks and the Reg Driver Visitor and Education Centre. Its grounds include ponds (Round, Bog, Wilderness and Horseshoe), a community orchard, an arboretum, and veteran oaks and sweet chestnuts up to 400 years old, with the Grade I listed Christchurch Mansion at its heart. Entry is free and the park is open every day from 07:00, with gate closing times varying by season.
