Bedford School's sports centre (the Recreation Centre) sits on the school's main estate on De Parys Avenue, Bedford. Public access is by booking rather than open sessions: the 25-metre swimming pool (2.1m deep at the deep end) is available for group hire or private parties - popular for children's swimming parties, with male and female changing rooms, lockers and poolside spectator seating for up to 50 swimmers. The large sports hall (badminton, basketball, five-a-side football, cricket nets and more) and four squash courts can also be hired. During the school holidays Bedford School runs sports camps open to all children, not just its own pupils: Summer 2026 hockey camps for boys and girls aged 8-15 (GBP50 per day or GBP90 for two days, 9.00am-3.00pm) are held at the Gordon Field astroturf pitches, which are floodlit for evening hire and offer 24 tennis courts from Easter to August. Note: the school estate is no-smoking and no dogs are permitted except guide dogs. The facilities are used by school pupils during term time, so day-to-day public swim sessions and gym membership are not offered.
