78 Derngate is the Charles Rennie Mackintosh House in Northampton: the only place outside Scotland where Mackintosh's mature architectural and interior style can be seen in its original setting. Designed and remodelled by Mackintosh in 1916 for patron W.J. Bassett-Lowke, the house has been meticulously restored and opened to the public. Visitors can explore the historic house on guided or self-led tours, browse free-entry art galleries, and enjoy The Dining Room restaurant, afternoon tea and the design shop. Family tickets, children's rates and educational resources make it a great cultural day out.

Open Tuesday-Sunday, 1 Feb - 21 Dec 2026 (closed Mondays and in January/late December). Last entry to the house 4pm.
