Tamworth Castle is a Norman motte-and-bailey castle in the heart of Tamworth town centre, owned and operated by Tamworth Borough Council. Explore 15 fully furnished period rooms, the Battle & Tribute exhibition, items from the Staffordshire Hoard and the historic Herringbone Wall, and enjoy 360-degree views of the Castle Grounds and town from the tower. There is a shop with local merchandise and family-friendly themed events through the year. Open February to December, Thursday to Sunday, plus bank holidays and Staffordshire school holidays. Note: there are lots of steep stairs and narrow corridors - pushchairs cannot be taken beyond reception, and the ground floor is wheelchair-accessible with a manual wheelchair available on request.
