Bodmin Jail Attraction

Bodmin Jail is a restored 18th-century prison in the heart of Bodmin, Cornwall, transformed into a family-friendly visitor attraction and museum. This summer (24 June – 8 September 2026) it hosts Brick History, a spectacular LEGO® exhibition created by internationally renowned LEGO artist Warren Elsmore and his team — thousands of years of world history rebuilt in brick, from Viking invasions and medieval castles to Pompeii, dinosaurs, Concorde, the moon landings and scientific breakthroughs. Highlights include a stunning 1.5-metre medieval castle filled with life and battle scenes, plus interactive interpretation panels exploring key moments in history across five themes: Arts, Conflict, Equality, Exploration and Transport.

The exhibition is included with Self-Guided Entry, which also lets you explore the jail itself — original prison cells, historic corridors and the stories of the people once imprisoned within its walls, from its 1779 origins and the harsh 'Bloody Code' to Cornwall's last execution in 1909. Allow 1.5–2 hours for your visit; entry is by timed ticket — book in advance (from £13.50 online; adult £19, child 5–15 £13.50, family tickets for groups of 3–4, free for under-5s).

The site also has the Moor Café (dog-friendly, with a free drinks token for dog-sitters), the Curiosities gift shop and the Bodmin Jail Hotel. There is no parking on site — use Berrycoombe Car Park (PL31 2PL), a five-minute walk away (pay and display). The attraction is accessible via platform lifts and ramps, with a free carer ticket policy. The Brick History exhibition is fully indoor — ideal for rainy days.
