Discovering 42 is Cornwall's award-winning interactive science museum in Bodmin (National Museum and Heritage Awards 2022, SAS Plastic Free Gold Award 2023, TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice 2025). Its constantly evolving exhibition brings physics, chemistry, engineering and environmental issues to life through art and hands-on interactivity, with exhibits crafted from salvaged and upcycled materials by local artists. Favourites include the bike-powered record player, levitating balls and water that flows backwards, and there is a cosy cafe housing the Magic Mocktail Chemistry Bar Experience. The museum is a non-profit Community Interest Company offering tiered tickets (Standard, Supporter and Low Income) plus professional carer concessions and free entry for Cornwall Culture Card holders. Note: exhibits include loud noises, magnets and strobe lighting effects, and children must be supervised at all times.
