A tidal island off the Cornish coast with a historic castle, terraced subtropical gardens, and a working village. You reach it on foot across an ancient cobbled causeway at low tide, or by ferry boat at high tide. Explore the castle's ramparts, wander cobbled streets past shops and harbourside buildings, visit the Steward's House Art Gallery (home to works by Newlyn School artists), and enjoy afternoon tea with complimentary garden admission. A café and restaurant are on the island.
Summer season 1 May - 11 Sep 2026 (garden closes 4 Sep); dogs welcome on the island 14 Sep - 30 Apr (excluding Easter), assistance dogs always; boating and Afternoon Tea until 31 Oct 2026.
