Saltdean Lido

Saltdean Lido is a Grade II* listed Art Deco outdoor lido on the Brighton coast at Saltdean, designed by architect Richard William Herbert Jones and opened in 1938. Its unique streamlined, crescent-shaped design is one of the best surviving examples of British modernist seaside architecture.

The 40m outdoor heated pool (heated to around 25°C in summer) sits alongside a large grassed area for relaxing and sunbathing. There's a smaller shallow children's splash pool with play fountains, supervised by lifeguards, plus warm communal showers, changing rooms with baby changing facilities, and a poolside hoist for accessible entry.

The Reading Room cafe serves food and drink on site, and picnic benches are available on the lawns. Children's birthday parties, holiday activities and kids' clubs run through the Lido Kids programme, and the famous annual Dogtember dog swim marks the end of summer.

The pool is open year-round: the summer season runs May to September with daily opening 07:00-19:00 (plus weather-dependent evening swims to 21:00), and the winter season runs October to April with reduced hours. Swim tickets and season passes are booked online. Under-8s must be accompanied by an adult (max 2 children per adult). Parking is free in two on-site car parks. Dogs are not permitted except on Dogtember days; guide dogs welcome at all times.
