Polesden Lacey is a National Trust Edwardian house and estate at Great Bookham, near Dorking in Surrey. Families can explore the elegant reception rooms and collections inside the house (ground floor open during 2026), wander the formal gardens and pleasure grounds, and let children burn off energy at the Kestrel Corner natural play area, made from wood from the estate with swings, tunnels and giant nests. The walled garden, tea-room café, coffee shop, shop and second-hand bookshop are all on site, with plenty of space for picnics. There are miles of parkland and woodland walks across the 1,600-acre estate, and National Trust family membership makes this an easy-value day out. Please note the house and gardens have different opening times, and car parking is charged (free for National Trust members).
Opening times vary seasonally - check the National Trust website calendar for seasonal opening and closing times before visiting.
