The Dominion Cinema is Edinburgh's only independent and family-run cinema, open since 1938. Housed in a beautiful Art Moderne (Art Deco) building in Morningside designed by architect T. Bowhill Gibson, it is a Category B listed building and shows a mix of blockbusters, family favourites and live event screenings (Royal Opera House, NT Live) across four screens plus a private screening lounge.
Families are well catered for: summer Family of Four tickets on U, PG and 12A films, children's birthday screenings on the Red Star screen (up to 20 kids, drinks and popcorn included), and a mix of current family releases. Seating is premium throughout - reclining sofas and armchairs in First Class & Gold screens, and double/single suites with table service in the Platinum Suites screen (champagne bar, pizzas, nachos and more). A VIP membership is available (15 tickets a year, friend-for-free days and private screening discounts).
