The Traverse is Edinburgh's leading contemporary theatre, set in the heart of the city on Cambridge Street. It is a family-friendly venue: children under 2 go free on an adult's lap, prams are welcome, and its programme regularly includes shows made for young children, family shows, pantomime and festival family productions. The building houses two theatre spaces (Traverse 1 and Traverse 2), a bar for pre-theatre drinks, and offers relaxed, captioned, audio-described and BSL-interpreted performances. Box Office on 0131 228 1404; Sales & Welcome desk open Mon-Fri 12pm-6pm and from 2 hours before performances at weekends.
