The King's Theatre is one of Edinburgh's most beloved cultural landmarks, a grand Victorian theatre on Leven Street near Tollcross. Run by Capital Theatres, it is best known for its spectacular annual pantomime and a varied programme of family shows, children's theatre, dance and drama. The theatre is currently closed for a major redevelopment that protects its historic character while modernising facilities for audiences, artists and the wider community, and is due to re-open in 2026. The box office remains open for enquiries and bookings. Relaxed performances, audio description, captioned performances and BSL-interpreted shows with touch tours are offered across Capital Theatres' programme.
