The River Wye is one of Britain's most beautiful rivers, flowing 155 miles from its source on Plynlimon in Mid Wales to the Severn Estuary. Near Hay-on-Wye, the river offers gentle, family-friendly sections perfect for canoeing and kayaking. Local operators provide half-day and full-day canoe trips suitable for complete novices and families with children. The stretch from Glasbury to Hay-on-Wye is particularly popular for family paddling, with calm waters, stunning scenery, and abundant wildlife including kingfishers, herons and otters.

Canoeing and kayaking trips typically run from March to October, weather permitting. The river is accessible year-round for riverside walks and picnics.
