Helen's Bay Beach

Helen's Bay Beach is one of two excellent beaches found in Crawfordsburn Country Park in County Down, Northern Ireland. These beautiful sandy beaches are by far the best within the Belfast area and are exceptionally popular and well used. Helen's Bay Beach is gently shelving and has excellent water quality making it ideal for bathing. The country park provides an excellent backdrop to the beach, with wooded headlands, meadows, quality walks and good facilities. The beach has been awarded the Green Coast Award. Facilities within nearby Crawfordsburn Country Park include a cafe/restaurant, car parking, dogs allowed, picnic sites, toilets and a visitor centre. There are disabled toilets and disabled parking a short distance from the beach, with a path suitable for wheelchair users leading from the car park to a path running adjacent to the beach. Helen's Bay Beach is part of Belfast Lough ASSI and SAC which was established for the populations of wading birds that spend the winter at the beach. In summer look out for Eider Ducks and terns. Porpoises and seals may also be spotted.
