Dunrobin Castle

Dunrobin Castle is the most northerly of Scotland's great houses and the largest in the Northern Highlands with 189 rooms. Dating back to the early 1300s, it is one of Britain's oldest continuously inhabited houses, home to the Earls and later Dukes of Sutherland. The castle resembles a French château with towering conical spires, bearing architectural influences from Sir Charles Barry, who designed the Houses of Parliament, and Sir Robert Lorimer. Visitors can take a self-guided tour through the state rooms on the first floor and the smaller rooms in the older parts of the castle, visit the formal garden and Victorian museum, and watch falconry displays by the resident falconer throughout the season.
