The Sperrins (Sperrin Mountains) is a mountain range and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in County Tyrone, spanning from Omagh to Cookstown and beyond. As one of Ireland's largest and most unspoilt upland areas, the Sperrins offer endless opportunities for family outdoor adventures including hiking, mountain biking, cycling, nature watching, and picnicking. The area is also an official Dark Sky destination, home to the OM Dark Sky Park and Observatory at Davagh Forest. Scenic driving routes have been recognised by National Geographic as among the world's top 101 drives. With walking trails ranging from gentle short strolls around Gortin Lakes (0.6 miles) to more challenging routes like the Craignamaddy Circuit (12.8 miles) and the Carntogher Way, there is something for every age and ability. Wildlife enthusiasts can spot red squirrels, sika deer, peregrine falcons, and buzzards. The Sperrins are a free-access natural landscape — no entry fee, no fixed hours, and no single operator.
