Mertoun Gardens

Mertoun Gardens lie to the north and east of Mertoun House, extending to about 26 acres of beautifully maintained grounds. The gardens feature sweeping lawns bordered by herbaceous plants, shrub roses and azaleas, a diverse arboretum established over the last 60 years, and a walled kitchen garden with fruit trees, vegetables and flowers. Paths and grass walks provide access to all parts of the garden and surrounding woodland, forming several attractive circular walks with views over the River Tweed. The gardens are run by the Mertoun Gardens Trust charity and offer a tranquil family day out in the Scottish Borders. Children are admitted free of charge.
