The Leas is a large area of coastal land owned and maintained by the National Trust along the cliffs of South Shields, Tyne and Wear. Stretching for around 2 miles along the coast towards Souter Lighthouse, it is popular with families for walking, dog walking, cycling, kite flying and horse riding. The Leas also serves as the finishing line for the Great North Run and hosts the Great North Dog Walk. With stunning sea views, grassland paths and access to Souter Lighthouse, it offers a free family day out in the fresh air.

Open access coastal land along the South Shields clifftops. Accessible at all times. Free entry.
