Saltwell Park is a 55-acre Victorian park nestled in the heart of Gateshead, one of Britain's finest examples of a Victorian park. The park's historical and peaceful grounds have earned many awards such as Green Flag and Britain's Best Park.
There are play areas for children of all ages including a dedicated toddler playground with sand pit and a separate playground for older children. The park also features a maze, a pets corner with animals, and a lake where in summer you can hire pedalos, rowing boats and inflatables. Other facilities include bowling greens, tennis courts, basketball facilities, walking and jogging routes.
There is a cafe serving food and drinks, plus plenty of space for picnics. The park is free to visit with free parking available.
