Housed in a Victorian building in Worcester city centre, this art gallery and museum is free to enter. The collection is especially strong in British Impressionist works, including paintings by Stanhope and Elizabeth Forbes and Dame Laura Knight. Landscapes by Worcester artist Benjamin Williams Leader are on permanent display. The museum runs changing exhibitions throughout the year — recent shows have featured John Singer Sargent's work and original puppets from 1960s TV shows Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet and Joe 90. There's a permanent exhibition called Your Worcester featuring objects from the collection with links to the city's heritage. On the first Friday of each month the Victorian Steward's Chemist Shop, preserved in the building, opens to visitors. Little Al's at the Balcony is an independent coffee shop within the museum. Family activities include trails and workshops alongside talks about the collections.
Improvement works 2024-2027 to upgrade visitor facilities may temporarily affect access to the building.
