Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is a working naval heritage site where you can walk aboard three major warships. The Mary Rose Museum houses the remains of Henry VIII's flagship, raised from the Solent over 400 years after she sank, with exhibits on Tudor life. HMS Victory, Nelson's flagship from the Battle of Trafalgar, is undergoing conservation work. HMS Warrior, a Victorian-era steam ship still afloat, lets you explore the top deck and engine rooms below. The site also includes Royal Navy Museums covering submarines and the history of naval explosives, plus interactive galleries and a harbour tour. It's open all year round.
Closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day. Gosport attractions (Explosion, Submarines) open Wednesday to Sunday (daily in Hampshire school holidays). Summer (Apr-Oct) extended hours. Winter (Nov-Mar) reduced hours: last entry 4pm, site closes 5pm.
