Whinlatter is England's only true mountain forest, set within the Lake District World Heritage Site with views across Bassenthwaite Lake, Derwentwater and Keswick. It has the longest purpose-built mountain bike trails in the Lake District, plus miles of walking and running trails on gravel roads, surfaced paths and tracks. There's a Room on the Broom interactive family trail, adventure play, a cafe, and a visitor centre. The forest is home to red squirrels, and the site regularly runs events including a summer Wild Things Adventure Club.
