Wimpole Home Farm, built in 1794, is the National Trust's only in-hand farm of its kind. It houses rare-breed animals including Shire horses—some standing 17.2 to 18.2 hands high—and a recently arrived Suffolk Punch. You'll find Irish Moiled and Shetland cattle, Oxford Sandy and Black pigs, Bagot goats, and several rare sheep breeds in the farmyard and parkland. In spring, hundreds of lambs are born to the farm's 280 ewes. The 750-acre organic arable farm grows wheat, rye, spelt, oats and barley. Visit the Home Farm trail, book a carriage ride pulled by the heavy horses, or head to the farm playground and café. Heavy horse experience days are currently unavailable.
Summer of Play family activities run 15 Jul-2 Sep. Government VAT reduction 25 Jun-1 Sep 2026 may make admission cheaper at the till.
