A free museum and art gallery in Salford, set in Peel Park close to the University of Salford. Families can wander Lark Hill Place, a recreated Victorian street where children can dress up, use traditional scales in the corner shop and take part in play-based activities. The Victorian Gallery has paintings to hunt for, including a nursery rhyme trail that invites younger children to spot animals and sing along. A rotating programme of temporary exhibitions runs alongside the permanent collections of social history, art and Pilkington's pottery. Gallery Babies sessions suit pre-walking babies and their carers during term time, and school holiday activities are scheduled through the year. Ear defenders, sensory bags and non-verbal choosing boards can be borrowed on arrival, and a ground-floor café with high chairs makes it easy to break up a visit.
