Watermouth Castle

Watermouth Castle is a family attraction set in a steep wooded valley on the North Devon coast. The building was remodelled in the mid-nineteenth century to look like a castle, and inside it families can explore Victorian rooms and a museum of old amusement machines and domestic tools. Outside, the grounds hold a traditional hedge maze, a dungeon labyrinth, a fairy museum and vintage-style rides including a toboggan run. Younger children can use the play areas, including a large adventure play zone, and there is a gnome-themed gold panning area and crazy golf to keep everyone busy. The gardens are landscaped with coastal views over Watermouth Cove, which makes a calmer stop between activities. Pushchairs are allowed in the grounds, and dogs are welcome. Much of the site is on slopes and uneven paths, so it suits families who are comfortable with some walking and steps. The site also offers self-catering apartments in the castle itself.
