Singleton Environment Centre is a sustainably built visitor centre and grounds on the edge of Ashford, run by a local charity. Families can explore the surrounding grounds, a resilience garden and wildlife areas, and the centre sits beside a 15-hectare community woodland with paths and plenty of birds and insects to spot. Younger children can join pre-booked nature sessions for pre-school children, which mix outdoor painting, mud-kitchen play and bird spotting. Older children can take part in school-age activities and environmental clubs. The on-site Footprints Café serves lunch and makes a relaxed stop between walks. It suits families who like being outdoors, want a quieter day close to town, or are looking for something a little different from a conventional attraction.
