RSPB Dungeness is an open-air nature reserve on the shingle headland at the southern tip of Kent, where the landscape is made of pebbles, freshwater pits, wet grassland and wildflower meadows. Families can follow the Discovery Trail, a level circular walk of roughly 1.7 miles that the reserve describes as suitable for a pushchair. Hides overlook the pits, where children can watch birds such as hobbies hunting dragonflies in summer and large winter flocks of wildfowl. The reserve also has a visitor centre, toilets with baby changing, and picnic tables in the car park. Dogs are restricted on the main trails, so families with a dog should check the rules first. Paths are gravel and shingle, so sturdy footwear helps.
