Spinnaker Tower is the landmark observation tower beside Gunwharf Quays on Portsmouth's harbour front. Its viewing decks give wide views over the harbour, the Solent, the Isle of Wight and the South Downs, and the main platform has a glass floor that children often enjoy looking down through. A short introductory film explains how the tower was designed and built. Young children are admitted free, which suits families with mixed ages. The Spinnaker Kitchen & Bar on site serves food and drinks while you take in the view. A typical visit takes around an hour, and it is a good option on a wet day in a city with plenty of maritime history nearby. The tower changed operator in October 2026, so check the current hours and ticket options before you travel.
