Turton Tower is a grade I listed manor house whose stone tower dates from the 1400s, with Tudor and Victorian additions and a collection of period furniture and paintings. Families can walk through the period rooms across three floors and see how the house changed over six centuries, from its defensive beginnings to a later family home. Outside, extensive gardens and woodland surround the house, and a woodland-themed adventure playground gives children climbing frames and high nets to play on. A woodland cafe sits in the original kitchen and there are picnic tables across the grounds. The house is open seasonally while the grounds are open all year, so check the current times before setting out.
Open season for the house runs roughly late March to 1 November. Gift shop open weekends in closed season.
