HAPPA is the working rescue and rehabilitation farm of the Horses and Ponies Protection Association, set in the Thursden Valley above Burnley. Families can walk the grounds, meet the rescued horses, ponies and donkeys, and learn about the animals' rehabilitation stories. There is an outdoor children's play area, fun and educational trails, and a small on-site museum about the charity's history since 1937. The HAPPA Café serves homemade food and has dog-friendly seating, and the shop sells equestrian gifts. Seasonal family days, Halloween and Christmas events run through the year, and children can take part in Own a Pony days and pony taster or grooming sessions on selected dates. Visits suit families with younger children as well as older children and animal lovers, and every visit helps fund the care of the horses.
