The Lake Kilrea is a seasonal outdoor adventure and water park built around a spring-fed lake in the middle of Northern Ireland. The centrepiece is a large floating inflatable obstacle course with slides, climbing features, wipeout balls and balance bridges, and the site describes its tallest floating slide as the main draw for older children. Families can also try paddle sports such as stand up paddleboarding, kayaking and canoeing, or hire pedalos to explore the water. On land there is a climbing wall, a zipline and a high ropes course beside the lake. Wetsuits, buoyancy aids and aqua socks are provided for waterpark sessions, and lifeguards are on duty. The main waterpark course is aimed at children aged six and over, so younger brothers and sisters may prefer the lakeside picnic tables and refreshment vans. It suits school groups, birthday outings and family days with older children who like water and climbing.
Questions parents ask
- Is the waterpark manageable with a toddler and an older child at the same time?
- The waterpark is suitable for those aged 6 and up, so younger toddlers may find limited activities. However, there is a dedicated Puddle Park area, suggesting provision for younger children alongside older siblings enjoying the main attractions.
- How long should we allow for a visit?
- We haven't confirmed typical visit duration on the page. Contact the venue directly or check their FAQs section for guidance on how long families usually spend there.
- Does it work in bad weather?
- This is an outdoor waterpark on a spring-fed lake, so heavy rain or storms would affect your visit. Check weather forecasts before you go, and contact the venue about their bad-weather policy.
- Is there food available, or should we bring a picnic?
- There is a picnic area on site. The page mentions "Places To Stay & Eat" but we haven't confirmed whether there is a café at the waterpark itself, so bringing your own food is a safe option.
- Do we need to book in advance, or can we turn up on the day?
- The page invites visitors to book tickets, but doesn't state whether walk-ups are possible. Check availability and book in advance through their ticketing system to be sure of entry.
