Drumawhey Junction Railway is a miniature railway run by a volunteer society on the Upper Gransha Road, between Bangor, Donaghadee and Newtownards. Its 7¼-inch gauge line is described by the operators as the longest of its kind in Ireland, with around 2km of track, a tunnel, a lattice steel bridge and routes that wind through mature grounds. Trains include steam, petrol hydraulic, diesel hydraulic and electric locomotives, and a ride takes roughly twelve minutes depending on the route. A signal box works the semaphore and colour light signals, and the engine sheds and station give younger visitors who love trains plenty to look at. A gift shop is on site, and the society runs themed and Santa running days through the season. The railway opens only on selected days, so families should check the current open days before travelling.
Opens on selected days only, weather dependent; Santa and Halloween specials run in season.
