The Walled Garden at Gordon Castle is one of the oldest and largest kitchen gardens in Britain, set behind old stone walls on the River Spey side of Fochabers. Families come to wander the herb beds, cut-flower borders, fruit trees and vegetable plots, and to watch the gardeners at work among them. A children's natural play area sits inside the grounds, and seasonal garden trails give younger visitors something to follow. There is a restaurant overlooking the beds and a shop selling plants, produce and pantry goods. Dogs are welcome on a lead. The castle itself is not open to visitors, so the garden is the part of the estate to visit. It suits a relaxed half-day with a picnic-style lunch or coffee, and it is open all year, so the planting changes with the seasons.
