Snugburys is a family-run ice cream farm on Park Farm near Nantwich. The business started in 1986 in a farmhouse kitchen and now makes dozens of flavours in a converted barn that serves as the shop, with a cobbled courtyard for sitting outside. Families come for the ice cream, but many visitors also walk out to see the giant straw sculptures that have stood in the fields alongside the road for more than twenty years. Past and present figures include a Paddington Bear, a bee, a meerkat and a dinosaur, and they change to mark anniversaries and big events. The shop also has a drive-thru window and a second site on the river in Chester. Because the sculptures are big, bright and easy to spot, it works well as a short stop for children on a trip out in the countryside. Check the seasonal hours before you travel, as they change through the year.
