Old Down Country Park sits on the grounds of a historic estate on the edge of Bristol, spread over 66 acres of gardens, woodland and open grass. Families come for the animal park, where children can meet farm animals and small pets, and for the adventure playground with climbing equipment, slides, swings and a giant jumping pillow. There is a Victorian walled garden to stroll through, an orchard, and marked paths around the estate. The café serves brunch and light meals, and a farm shop sells local produce and gifts. Seasonal events run through the year, including animal encounters and a winter light trail. The park suits toddlers and young children best, with plenty of space to run about, and it works well as a relaxed half-day out. Children's parties and school visits are also offered on the estate.
