Facilities

A small-gauge miniature railway in the grounds of Stratford Park, run and maintained by the Stroud Society of Model Engineers. On public running days the society operates a mix of battery and steam locomotives on a track that skirts the lake and crosses the Painswick Stream, so children can see the engines up close and ride behind them. The line sits in a large award-winning park with lawns, two children's play areas, woodland and an arboretum, so a visit can easily be combined with time on the playgrounds and walks around the water. Public running is occasional and seasonal rather than daily, so families should check the society's current programme before setting out. It suits young children who enjoy trains and parents who like the mix of an old-fashioned ride and a relaxed park setting.

Public running days are seasonal and occasional; not a daily attraction.
