A museum on the site of the historic Battle of Britain fighter station, built around St George's RAF Chapel of Remembrance. Exhibition galleries follow the people who served at the airfield and the local community around it, using uniforms, medals, personal letters and objects, many donated by the public. Families can explore the chapel, its gardens and the Nightingale Café, which looks out over the airfield runway, and the admission ticket includes an activity pack for younger visitors. The calm, reflective atmosphere suits a slower visit, and the museum runs talks, lectures and events through the year. A walking trail around the wider airfield heritage is free to museum visitors. Booking is not needed for a standard visit, and tickets are bought at the door.
