Danson House is a restored Palladian villa built in 1766 and set in Danson Park, a large public park with a lake and open lawns. The house was saved from ruin in the 1990s and its restored interiors reopened to the public in 2005, so visitors can see the grand rooms, the ornate staircase and the Victorian kitchens. Guided heritage tours run on selected Sundays in the summer months, which suit older children and adults with an interest in history. The house is also the borough's Register Office, so some weekday and Saturday mornings are busy with ceremonies. Families often pair a visit to the house with a walk around the lake and the wider park. A tea room at the back of the house offers a place to stop for refreshments.
Guided tours April to August only, on listed Sundays.
